Batman - WB 20 Film Collection Thrillers
- Commentary: Turns out this doesn't wear well the second time around, either. Even its comic book shtick has been well surpassed, and by its own series. I do like Michael Keaton best as Batman, though. He wore the mantle well, better than any others I can think of. His voice is the epitome of Batman. That said, I'm glad I own it and will probably watch it again. And the characters. Oh, the characters! Nicholson and Bassinger both made a huge splash as their characters, and their performances hold up well.
I'm sorry, sometimes, that I don't have Batman Returns just to savor Danny DeVito's Joker. But, I've almost got too many Batman movies, as it is.

A Few Good Men
- Commentary: I ended up with this movie as part of a package deal, although I can't remember which movie came with it. I like it, and have watched it more than once. If I hadn't gotten it as an add on, I wouldn't own it, but I don't think I'll be sending this one off to the library. It's a great I-want-to-watch-something-but-I-don't-know-what movie.
The famous Nicholson-in-the-courtroom scene is one of my all time favorites.
Update 6/9/2022: This post was originally published on 8/14/16 but disappeared from public view. I am now reinstating it.

Terms of Endearment
- Commentary: My goodness! Can you believe it? Here is a movie that completely got away from me! I didn't even realize I, or, formerly, we, had it, never entered it in my movie journal, although I know I've seen it, perhaps more than once and, certainly, with my mother. I'm sure we had it before her death. It's the kind of movie she would have liked, which is probably why it is in our collection. But, that I overlooked it! Yikes! I wonder how many other movies are sitting on the shelves that I've overlooked!
Well, when I'm done with the project, of "picturing" movies, I think I just start from "A" on the shelves and see if there are any others I've missed. I hope not, but I'm excited about the possibility of discovering "new content", as they say in the trades, although they won't really be new, but, simply, uncatalogued. Somehow, I think there are very few. In fact, I kind of think this is the only one. Well, we'll see.
I should probably write up this movie, my reaction, that is, but I think I need to watch it again for that!

On a Clear Day You Can See Forever
- Who's watched: M & G
- Mentions: *1*
- Commentary: I was surprised to see that I mentioned this movie in my journals, albeit some time ago. I'd forgotten about it until some cable channel showed it not too long ago, I clicked into it and Mom was not only thoroughly entertained by it but enjoyed the idea that time can collapse forward as well as backward. It's very dated, true, and the singing is not well woven into the movie, but Streisand's performance, especially as her re- and pre-incarnated personalities, is riveting. Jack Nicholson has a forgotten part in this movie, as well, which renders it fun to watch, simply because he participated in this movie long before he became known for his portrayals of ticklish, "Nicholsonian" characters.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
- Who's watched: M & G (both in theater and on video)
- Mentions: None
- Commentary: The first time my mother and I saw this movie it was new, just in the theaters. She, MFS and I went with my mother's sister, niece and nephew. We saw it at the Los Arcos Cinema (housed inside the Los Arcos Mall, neither of which have existed for decades) in Scottsdale, Arizona. The audience, during the credits, gave the movie a standing ovation. This was the first time any of us in our related group had ever been to a film that elicited so much from the audience.
I don't know if Mom remembers. I do know that the day I purchased this movie, some months ago, brought it home, wrestled it out of its wrapping and dropped it into the dvd player, Mom and I relaxed, knowing that being overwhelmed by a movie is possible more than once.
Yes, yes. Roger Ebert christened it one of his Great Movies 28 years after his initial review.
