A Civil Action
- Commentary: Under construction.
I have a very vague memory of watching this movie and enjoying it, but I remember nothing about it. However, it was incredibly cheap when I stumbled upon it so, I decided, I can afford to take an inexpensive chance. In addition, I happened to notice, while prepping for this write-up, that the cast is loaded with extraordinary, star-quality actors. I can't wait for my second viewing, which I'm thinking will probably really be my first viewing!

P. S.: The chart above is just a light dusting of characters. There are so many top-flight actors in this series who play extended roles that you kind of have to assume that new faces (and names) will constantly be popping up and other faces will be disappearing.

Yes, I know, more Japanese manga-based movies. Blame my love of these on Sacramento.

The above actor/character list is much shorter than I intend. Before I complete it I need to refresh my memory on which characters show up the most in the series, and which famous actors are featured.

- Commentary: I love this movie unreasonably. I love the story. I love the hero's predicament. I love his emotional expressions as he negotiates the predicament. I love what this movie says not only about friendship, but about how horrible circumstances spur some of us to disgust and then, quickly, heroism.
In my opinion, this movie is just an f***ing masterpiece. All the actors, as well, are great, especially Michael Caine. I know he's made splashier and flashier movies, many of which are considered Great Movies. I've seen many of them and have a few of them. But, this one steals my heart. Every time.

Let the Right One In
- Commentary: This is one of those movies that I've seen many times since it came out, but never in the theater, always on some TV channel that's running it, often Amazon, although not exclusively. It beguiles me. I never get tired of the story, of its characters, of its look, of the way it was produced. I guess you could say it's one of my all time favorites.
My mother was still alive when it came out, a few months before she died. Since it was released at that time on TV, she saw it, and what I remember of her reaction was that she was intrigued by it and didn't connect it with being about vampires. She thought it was about two children in a compromising situation who were trying to figure their way out of it. Frankly, that's a pretty good description of it.
More later.
