All that Jazz
- Who's watched: M & G
- Mentions: *1*
- Commentary: Mom: This is, to my surprise, one of my mother's favorite's of any type, despite it's darkness and irony. She's especially hooked on the last spread, the death number. I think part of the attraction for her is that it is a very well done, very watchable musical. I'm not sure about the rest of her attraction.
Me: Its simply one of my all time favorites. We watch it every couple of months.

3:10 to Yuma - 2007
- Commentary: Under construction.
Yes, this is the 50-years-later remake of the 1957 movie of the same name, which I also own and appears below. I hadn't intended to add both to my collection until I was perusing the reviews for the first, kept running into reviews for the remake, became intrigued and thought, "Hmmm, it's cheap enough, think I'll add that one to my collection, too." Plus, you know, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in the lead roles? And, considering that probably all men in the world are fascinated by and envious of the Western history of the United States. And, Australia, in particular, Russell Crowe's country, has it's own Western history, a few movies about which I own. Yes, yes, yes. I want to consider both of these iterations.
As always, more later.

Lots of local buzz about this movie, which took me by surprise. I live in a seemingly quiet mountain town that likes to imagine itself a "rural city" (a quote from local news sources who have used this phrase, forever and a day, as self-descriptive). It has pretensions to grandeur based on a flagrant, state-wide governmental history, and, as well, just beneath the thin and cracking surface, an energetic, willing cadre ready to spring into action to defend "good people everywhere, but, especially here" if it seems necessary. Thus, I think this movie might have local significance. I'll let you know, once I watch it.

The Ranown Westerns

I'm really looking forward to watching this collection. It's only been within the last couple of years that westerns have intrigued me, starting with the TV show Rawhide. Frankly, its sophistication surprised me.
