Tár
- Commentary: Under construction.
Well, all I can say is that this film must not be selling very well because I just, literally, stumbled across it at an amazingly low price, well under $10 including taxes and shipping, and decided, yeah, okay. See, the thing is, I love Cate Blanchett's performances, for the most part, even though I haven't kept strictly up with all of them but, in my defense, I've seen some of the much less ballyhooed performances, too. I even have two of them in my collection.
At contention is the portrayal of Tár's personal power dynamic, at play not only in her conducting but in her personal relationships, as well. I haven't seen the movie yet, though. In fact, I won't even be receiving it for another ten days to two weeks. When I find an unbeatable price, though, for a movie about which my curiosity has been piqued, I usually go for it.
Since I won't be viewing it for awhile (since I won't be receiving it for awhile), here is an article about the various reactions of the Classical Music World to the film. It's a pretty interesting to consider, especially if you're familiar with Classical Music and the activity within that genre.
Definitely more, definitely later.
