In the Line of Fire
- Commentary: Under construction.
I saw this some years ago, although not when it was first released. However, it left me with strong memories, specifically Malkovich's voice and images of Presidential motorcades. More later.

Cat People
- Commentary: This movie mesmerizes me and has since I first saw it during its initial theater release. I love its dark sexual statements. I love Natassia Kinski's and Malcolm McDowell's performances. I love the suggestion that sex is never simple, and if you approach it as such, you're liable to lose an arm (or some other essential body part).
By the way, I've never seen the original version, although I'd love to. Interestingly, my local library, which draws on the entire system of libraries in the county, offers this 1982 version for loan but not the 1942 version, even though that version is widely available. This piques my curiosity even more.

The Pelican Brief
- Commentary: So, considering how much I love movies, I had not watched this movie, anywhere, before receiving it in the aforementioned set. I don't know why. I was familiar with the name, with the stars, knew it was a legal thriller, and I'm a fan of this genre. But, it just had never appeared on my movie-going plate, so to speak. And, it's an enjoyable film. The "thrill" is involving enough. I wouldn't give it a top ranking, though. I like the way both actors, Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts, strut their stuff in this film. It was made in 1993. Roberts had not yet entered her "god, I'm great" phase (a good example of Roberts in this phase as an actor is Mona Lisa Smile, a movie which I love, anyway), so she and Washington play well together and the story is interesting. Still, I'd sooner watch Fallen again, just for the astonished giggling it provokes, before I'd watch this movie again. It's ho-hum-good. Just.

- Commentary: Mom has to be in the right mood for this movie. As a former elementary school teacher she is all too aware of how children long to be adults and that the truth of the matter is that adults may long to be younger adults, but they don't long to be children. Ever.
Despite my mother's discomfort, and disagreement, with this film, watching it always puts me in the right mood, but, then, I was never a teacher, formally, and never had kids, on purpose. Penny Marshall is a sentimental genius.
